Brat Reuben

By: S.Rosen's Test Kitchen

Brats and rye bread share the same heritage but rarely get to meet.  For an Oktoberfest themed sandwich, we decided to change that and created the Brat Reuben. And yes - it is as good as it sounds.

Total Time: 15 min

Servings

1

Ingredients

2 Precooked brats, cut lengthwise

2 Slices of S. Rosen's Marble Rye Bread

2 Tbsp. Thousand Island dressing

4 Slices of Swiss cheese

2-4 oz. Sauerkraut, drained

Softened butter

Directions

Cook the halved bratwurst in a cast iron skillet or on the grill (your preference) until nice browning appears.

Coat the bottom slice of rye bread with half the thousand island and Swiss cheese. Then place the brat halves on top then cover with sauerkraut, the rest of the cheese and the top bread slice which has the rest of the thousand island spread on it.

Preheat a non-stick pan to medium heat. Coat the sides of the sandwich with the butter and griddle each side about 3-4 minutes.

Enjoy!
