Cheesy Pumpkin and Italian Sausage Spread

Pumpkin is for far more than pies and carving. Here it is combined with sausage for a spell binding appetizer.

1 lb. Hot Italian sausage (you can sub mild if needed)

1 Can pumpkin puree (NOT pumpkin pie puree)

1 White onion, diced

4 tsp Dried sage

¼ tsp salt

2 tsp Brown sugar

2 Tbsp. Maple Syrup

1 cup Cheez Whiz

1 Package S.Rosen’s Party Entertainers pumpernickel rye


  1. Sautee and break up the Italian sausage over middle high heat.
  2. Once the sausage starts browning add the diced onion, salt, and sage. Cook for about 3 minutes or until onions to begin to soften.
  3. Add the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, and maple syrup, and stir until well combined.
  4. Then do the same with the Cheez Whiz. Once well combined remove from heat.
  5. Spoon a large spoonful of the sausage mixture onto each pumpernickel square.
  6. Cook in oven at 375°F for 7 minutes. Serve and enjoy
