Chicago Green River Dip

In our dreams the Chicago River tastes like Green River soda and Irish whiskey. We’re very aware this is not true, but just like the dying of the river this dessert dip brings that festive spirit to the party.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. Cream cheese
  • 1/3 Cup Green River Syrup
  • 1 tsp. Powdered ginger
  • 1 oz. Irish whiskey
  • 3 Tbsp. Sweetened condensed milk
  • Zest from 1 lime
  • 12-14 Shamrock shaped S.Rosen’s Farmers Market White Bread, toasted
  • 2 Drops green food coloring (optional but festive)

Directions

  1. To prepare the Green River Syrup: Put 1 cup of Green river soda is pan and bring to a vigorous simmer until the liquid has reduced to 1/3 cup. Allow to cool. Can be made the day before
  2. In a bowl combine the cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, lime zest and powdered ginger. Stir to combine 
  3. Add the Green River syrup, and stir to combine fully. Then add the Irish whiskey to taste (we used 1 oz.)
  4. Serve with shamrock shaped toasts.
