Ingredients per sandwich:
S. Rosen’s Onion Buns
Burger patty, seasoned with salt
1 Slice Swiss cheese
French Onions
Dijon mustard
Mayo
Ingredients for French Onions:
2 Yellow Onions sliced.
1 Tbsp. Olive oil in the cast iron pan
1 Tbsp. Butter
1 Tbsp. Balsamic vinegar
Directions
1. Heat a medium sized cast iron skillet over medium heat on the grill with 1 Tbsp. olive oil. Once heated, add onions and stir regularly. Cook until reduced by half (20-30 minutes). Add 1 Tbsp. Balsamic to deglaze pan, then melt 1 Tbsp. butter to finish. Remove from heat.
2. Grill the burger until you reach desired doneness. Add Swiss cheese before removing from the grill.
3. Assemble burger starting with the patty, following with French onions, and topped with top bun smeared with 50/50 ratio of Dijon mustard and mayo.
