What’s new this year is the egg prices. At these prices – those eggs better not go to waste! At the S. Rosen’s test kitchen, we developed these easy egg appetizers that are perfect for a brunch spread or a snack before the main meal.

Ingredients

S. Rosen's Pumpernickel Cocktail Rye Bread

1 container herb cheese spread (such as Alouette or Boursin)

Hard boiled eggs, sliced vertically into 4 slices

Hot Italian sausage (about half an ounce for each app)

1 Bunch of fresh basil

Note: each egg produces 4 appetizers

Directions

1. Sauté the sausage until fully cooked and browning appears. Remove from heat. 

2. To assemble, start with a generous spread of herbed cheese on the cocktail rye slice, followed by an egg slice and crumbled Italian sausage. Top with fresh basil and serve immediately.
